Summer Reading Program

Lake Hiawatha School
Summer Reading Program
& Principal’s Challenge

Our 2017 summer reading program is from June 11 to September 2. A kick-off assembly was held for students on June 8.

It is enriching, exciting, and easy to participate! Read as often as you’d like, but at least 30 minutes per week. Students may read independently or with an adult.

Our school goal is to meet Mrs. Finnegan’s Principal’s Challenge by reading for 100,000 minutes! Help us reach this benchmark by reading on a daily basis! Keep track of the time you read on the attached “Summer Reading Log.”

We also encourage all families to participate in the Lake Hiawatha Library BINGO summer reading program.

Return the log in September. All students who participate will be recognized and earn a certificate. Participating students will be entered into a drawing to receive a gift certificate to the PTA Book Fair!

The entire school will earn a special Reading Recess if we meet the Principal’s Challenge by reading 100,000+ minutes!
